Same starting point as our other day tours, genuinely different destination. This route runs through the Isla Perro group and is built around Isla Diablo itself — relaxed, family-friendly, and different enough from the VIP tour that it’s worth comparing the two carefully before you pick.

The hour-by-hour itinerary

We publish this in full, because “which islands will I see” shouldn’t stay a mystery until you’re already on the boat:

• 8:30 AM — Arrival at Isla Diablo, free time to swim
• 10:00 AM — Stop at a neighbouring cay within the Isla Perro group
• 11:00 AM — Guna community visit, with molas made and sold by local artisans
• 12:30 PM — Lunch
• 1:30 PM — The Starfish Pool, a separate sandbar from the main Natural Pool
• 3:00 PM — Departure back toward Panama City

How it compares to VIP

This is a fork in the road, not a pricing tier. The VIP tour is built around the shipwreck snorkel; Isla Diablo’s route centres on the Starfish Pool and a longer, more unhurried community stop. If snorkeling is your top priority, go VIP. If you’d rather have time to walk a village and sit on a beach without a schedule pushing you, this is the better fit.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Starfish Pool the same as the Natural Pool?

No — they’re two different sandbars, and this tour goes to the Starfish Pool rather than the one included on the Classic and VIP routes. Both are shallow enough to stand in; this one is the quieter of the two.

Can I pick up the starfish?

Please don’t. Lifting a starfish out of the water stresses the animal, and the whole appeal of the stop depends on them still being there next season. Look, photograph from above the surface, and leave them where they are.

Does this tour include snorkeling?

Not a guided reef session — that’s what separates it from VIP. You can swim freely at each stop, and the water around Isla Diablo is calm and shallow, with parrotfish and the occasional ray over the sand flats close to shore.

Is it a good tour with small children?

It’s one of the easier ones. Isla Diablo is small enough to walk around in a few minutes, ringed by calm shallow water, with shade shelters and hammocks for day visitors. Life jackets are mandatory on the boats for children and adults alike.

What is the community stop actually like?

Unhurried, and longer than on other routes — that’s the point of this itinerary. You’ll see molas being sewn and sold by the artisans themselves. Bring small cash bills; nowhere in the comarca takes cards.

Can I sleep on Isla Diablo instead of returning the same day?

Yes. The island has simple Guna-run cabins, and several of our overnight stays are based there. Sunset and sunrise over the same beach are the reason most people who do it don’t go back to a day tour afterwards.
